About Small Animal Rescue Society of BC

Small Animal Rescue Society of BC is a registered charitable society that is comprised of volunteers and services throughout BC. Our charity number is 86169 0436 RR0001.

We are strictly a volunteer organization and no one is paid to work with the animals. Our primary focus is to rescue and rehome any small animal in need. Neglected, injured and abandoned animals are our primary focus.

Vision: A forever home for any abandoned, neglected or unwanted small animal.

Mission: SARS BC is a committed group of volunteers dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and re-homing of homeless or unwanted small animals throughout the province. SARS BC provides a safe haven while promoting responsible pet guardianship through its education, advocacy, and spay/neuter initiatives.

Unfortunately due to the sheer number of unwanted small animals we can only consider taking in “owner surrendered” animals if we have a foster home available. We will however help owners to rehome their animals in every way possible.

We are primarily a virtual rescue – meaning that the majority of the animals in our care are in foster homes that care for the animals, in their home, until they find their a forever home of their own. That way the animals get a lot of one on one attention and the special care they all deserve.

Since October 2004, we have found over 1,353 homes for small animals in need.
