New Westminster City council has voted to ban the sale of rabbits in it’s city.

Thank you from all of us and all of the rabbits!

Attention all Costco shoppers

Friday, June 11th, 2010

Do you like shopping?

Do you like Small Animals?

If so, and you are looking for a way to help but are unable to volunteer, please consider us on your next trip to Costco.

A donation of Kirkland industrial garbage bags (the regular ones, not the draw string type), Heinz white vinegar and paper towels would be greatly appreciated. Keeping up with cleaning and scrubbing takes alot of the little extras and we go through alot of them :-)
It may not sound very exciting but after the food, bedding & vet care expenses, contributions such as this are just as important.

If you would like to donate or have any questions, please email info@smallanimalrescue.org

Thanks

Sponsor a spay or neuter

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

Currently SARS BC has oodles of rabbits waiting to be spayed or neutered.  The majority of rabbits that come to us are strays and thus are unaltered.
Having all of our rabbits spayed & neutered before they are adopted ensures that there will be no more unwanted litters of babies brought into the world as well as helping to decrease their risk of cancer and other assocaited health problems.  It really is the most important things that we can do for them.

Most have their appointments booked but we are looking for ways to help fund the procedures.  If you would like to help, we would love to hear from you.  For a donation of $50 you can sponsor a spay or neuter and for a donation of $65 we can also add a tattoo.

All donations will receive a tax receipt and a picture of the rabbit you have sponsored.  Please email info@smallanimalrescue.org for more information.

Please note - due to recent inquiries…..the cost of a spay or neuter is more than the $65 listed above we ask for a $65 donation as most people would not be willing to donate the full amount.  We also ask that particular amount as that is the adoption fee for our rabbits.  We loose money on each rabbit that is adopted out from us.  Additionally, we are NOT able to have the public looking to us to get their rabbits altered cheaper than they would pay at their vets.   Our vets work with us, to help us, help the animals and we do not want to take advantage of that or risk this privelage.

Mary Lou remembered

Mary Lou and her dog
Recently SARS BC received an in memorial donation on behalf of Mary Lou.
Mary Lou was described as a *regular* black bun but to all those who knew her, they knew she was more than that.  She was very special and very loved and warmed her home with her special spirit.
Mary Lou, a senior rabbit,  spent over a year of her life in a local shelter until she was adopted out into a loving family.  Many times rabbits just like Mary Lou are over looked in local shelters and spend years waiting to find a forever home of their own.

Soaking up some sun

As you can see, she fit right into her new family.  Often she was found on the couch sleeping with the cat.

Sadly, not long ago,  it was Mary Lou’s turn to move onto the bridge.  She will be missed by all and her legacy will help other rabbits to the food and care that they need.
RIP Mary Lou.

Thank you to all of our Volunteers!

Thank you everyone!

During National Volunteer Week, SARS BC would like to thank all of our volunteers

As a 100% volunteer run organization,  without you, we would not exist and so many small animals would go without the help they need.

We ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean. But the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.

Please email info@smallanimalrescue.org ASAP if you are able to help.
